Briefing “The Outcome and Lessons of World War II and the Present” was held in United Nations

Organized by Moscow Bureau for Human Rights and American Forum of World Congress of Russian Jewry On 5 May at 3 p.m. the UN Headquarters in New York hosted a briefing “The Outcome and Lessons of World War II and the Present” organized by the Moscow Bureau for Human Rights (MBHR) and the American Forum of the World Congress of the Russian Jewry (WCRJ) in collaboration with the Permanent Mission of the Russian Federation to the UN.

The briefing is timed to coincide with the celebration of the 64th anniversary of the Great Victory of the anti-Hitler coalition allies in World War II. During the briefing, the MBHR leadership (Mr. Alexander Brod and Ms. Natalia Rykova) presented an overview on rehabilitation of Nazism and whitewashing of fascist accomplices in certain countries, above all in Ukraine and the Baltic States.

The issue is of particular relevance in light of the 70th anniversary of the beginning of World War II observed this year. Mr. Mikhail Nemirovsky, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the American Forum of the WCRJ, reported on “Memory of World War II as a Link between the Russian Diaspora in the US and Russia.”

World War II veterans, activists of US Russian-speaking veteran organizations, UN Secretariat staff, diplomats, representatives of the media and the public at large took part in the briefing.
